Education

I am a 10th grade Global History teacher as well as College Counselor in Queens. I graduated from New York University (Magna Cum Laude, Dean's List, Honor's Scholar) and received my Bachelor's degree and teacher certification in Social Studies Education grades 5-12. I also received my Master's degree in School Counseling from St. John's University for school counseling.

Experience

I have currently been teaching 10th grade Global History in Queens for the past 9 years. I have consistently have had the highest passing rate for the Global Regents exam in the school, and am responsible for all of the inclusion classes. In addition to my social studies license, I possess a license in school counseling. For the past 6 years, I have been a college advisor teaching students about the differences between various types of colleges and the programs they offer, as well as how to better prepare themselves for the application process. During my college advisor classes, I assist seniors in editing their college essays, registering for SAT exams, completing all of their college applications and supplementals, as well as completing their financial aid documents (FAFSA and TAP). I student taught in a 10th grade Global History class and a 7th grade Humanities class. I have tutored a 7th grade student in all subject areas, as well as ELA exams, and have guided him in the application process for NYC high schools. I worked as a Teacher's Assistant for three years with a government program called America Reads/Counts. During my time working for America Reads, I taught grades 1-3. In addition, I have tutored an elementary school boy one on one for two years. While I was in high school, I volunteered as an after-school tutor for children grades K-8. I am interested in tutoring because it is a way to work with children on a more personal level and academically help them outside the classroom.
